Next day, after a delicious breakfast, prepare for a guided tour of the Acropolis with a licensed tour guide. Learn about the fascinating history of this UNESCO World Heritage site. Following the Acropolis tour, join our expert bike tour leaders for an exploration of Athens on two wheels, taking in the city’s key sights and hidden gems. This is the best beggining for your cycling holidays in Greece. In the afternoon, a private transfer will take you to Areopoli, the capital town of Mani.
After a relaxing 3.5-hour bus ride, check in at your hotel and enjoy some free time to explore the scenic town of Areopoli on your own.
Begin your cycling journey from Areopoli to Cape Tainaro, the southernmost point of continental Greece.
The route starts with a flat section for about 10 km, allowing you to warm up as you enjoy the beautiful scenery. Along the way, take a refreshing swim in the crystal-clear waters of Gerolimenas. After this short beach break, prepare for a 5 km ascent to Vatheia, a village famous for its traditional Mani architecture and stunning views.
After a short break in Vatheia, begin the descent towards Cape Tainaro. Eventually, we will leave our bike and hike for about 1 hour to reach the Tainaro lighthouse, where you will be rewarded with a breathtaking panorama of the endless blue horizon.
Return to Areopoli by a private bus transfer for your 2nd overnight stay.
Start your day early, departing from our hotel for the most challenging segment of your cycling holidays in Greece. Navigate through rolling hills amidst the stunning Mediterranean landscape, passing through several traditional villages along the way.
Brace yourself for a 7 km uphill ride to Lagia village, where we will pause for a well-deserved lunch break. Afterwards, hop on your bike to experience the excitement of a downhill ride leading to Marmari Beach, where we will take an extended break to relax and enjoy the fantastic beach with its crystal-clear waters.
Return to Areopoli by a private bus transfer for your 3rd and last overnight stay here.
Today’s journey takes you from Areopoli to Gytheio on an easier ride, allowing you to absorb the beauty of the region at a relaxed pace. Our first stop is the Diros Caves, a must-visit attraction known for its stalactites and stalagmites. Admire the natural formations and learn about them on a guided boat tour.
Next, we’ll visit Skoutari village, a seaside village known for its beautiful beaches and traditional tavernas. Soon after, we will reach the scenic port town of Gytheio, where you will have some free time to explore.
End the day with a bus transfer to the medieval castle town of Monemvasia, a stunning destination with its unique architecture, cobbled streets, and dramatic sea views. Check in at your hotel and spend the night in this magical town, where history and beauty combine to create an unforgettable experience.
Our adventure today begins with a bike ride from Monemvasia to Gerakas Fjord, the only fjord in Greece. As we leave Monemvasia, you’ll pedal through the beautiful landscape, marked by olive groves, vineyards, and rugged coastline.
The journey to Gerakas Fjord offers a mix of gentle rolling hills and more challenging sections, ensuring a rewarding ride. The secluded fjord’s calm, clear waters, unique beauty and lush greenery provide a perfect backdrop for a short break and a chance to rest.
After our break, we will cycle back to Monemvasia, retracing our route and enjoying the scenery from a different perspective. When we reach Monemvasia it’s time to explore this beautiful castle city. Wander through the narrow, cobbled streets, visit the medieval churches and historic buildings.
DAY 7. The turquoise waters of Elafonisos (63km,+1053m)
A special treat awaits on this day. We are riding from Monemvasia to Simos, one of the most beautiful beaches in Greece, located on the island of Elafonisos. Start cycling through scenic routes and embrace the stunning coastal views, with the Aegean Sea providing a beautiful backdrop.
We will reach the port of Vigklafia and take a short ferry ride to Elafonisos, a small island known for its perfect beaches and crystal-clear waters. Our ultimate destination is Simos Beach, often hailed as one of the most beautiful beaches in Greece, with soft white sand and turquoise waters. Spend the afternoon at Simos Beach, where you can relax, sunbathe, and swim in the inviting waters.
After a day of sun, sea, and sand get ready to return back to Monemvasia for our last night with a bus tranfer. Reflect on the day’s adventures and the incredible sights you have seen as you prepare for the final day of your South Peloponnese cycling tour.
Begin the day with a bus transfer from Monemvasia to Nafplio, one of the most beautiful and picturesque towns in Greece. As we bid farewell to our bikes, the cycling part of our cycling holidays in Greece concludes, but the exploration continues.
In Nafplio, visit the Palamidi castle, a hilltop fortress with great views. Explore the site and then descend the 999 steps to the town below, capturing stunning views. In town, enjoy a traditional Greek food tasting at a local tavern. After lunch, explore the old town, visit shops, and relax in charming cafes.
In the late afternoon, we will board our bus for the return trip to Athens, for your last night in Greece. Spend the evening in Athens as you like, reflecting on the incredible journey and the memories you have made.
Next morning, enjoy your breakfast and any last-minute explorations of Athens. Safe travels and farewell, until we meet again on another adventure!
