DAY 1. Welcome to Athens
Upon checking in at your hotel, enjoy some free time to explore the vibrant streets of Athens at your own pace.
For those looking to dive deeper into the city’s rich culture, optional tours are available at an extra cost, including the Athens City Bike Tour for a scenic cycling experience and the Acropolis Walking Tour for an in-depth exploration of the city’s iconic ancient landmark.
DAY 2. Areopoli Round trip(20km)
Our journey begins with a comfortable transfer from Athens to the legendary Mani Peninsula, one of the most authentic and untouched regions of Greece. As we leave the city behind, the landscape slowly changes into rugged mountains, stone villages and endless olive groves.
We start our cycling adventure from a hidden mountain village deep in the Mani countryside, far from the tourist routes. Quiet roads lead us through dramatic scenery and traditional settlements before reaching the picturesque seaside village of Limeni, where crystal-clear waters and stone-built houses create one of the most beautiful settings in Greece. Here, we stop for a relaxed lunch by the sea.
In the afternoon, we continue riding toward Areopoli, the historic heart of Mani and a town closely linked to Greece’s War of Independence. Its stone towers, narrow alleys and lively atmosphere make it the perfect introduction to the region.
Check-in at our carefully selected hotel is around 17:00. The rest of the afternoon is yours to enjoy the hotel facilities, relax by the pool or explore Areopoli at your own pace.
DAY 3. Areopoli to Vatheia (67km)
Today we explore the southernmost part of Mani, a land shaped by history, isolation and wild natural beauty. We start directly from the hotel, cycling through olive groves, quiet villages and breathtaking coastal scenery with constant views of the deep blue Mediterranean Sea.
One of the highlights of the day is the visit to Vathia, the famous abandoned tower village often called the “ghost village” of Mani. Built on a hill overlooking the sea, its stone towers and deserted alleys feel frozen in time and offer a glimpse into the region’s proud and turbulent past.
Along the route, we also visit the famous Diros Caves, one of Greece’s most impressive natural wonders. Hidden beneath the Mani landscape, these spectacular caves are filled with underground lakes, dramatic rock formations and crystal-clear waters, creating a truly unique atmosphere.
A memorable lunch awaits us in a spectacular seaside setting, where you will discover traditional Maniot flavors and local products prepared with simplicity and care.
In the afternoon, we continue riding through rugged landscapes and hidden coastal roads before stopping at the beautiful beach of Gerolimenas for a refreshing swim or coffee by the water.
We return to Areopoli in the late afternoon, around 17:00. The evening is free for you to continue exploring the town’s charming streets, tavernas and hidden corners.
DAY 4. Areopoli to Monemvasia (53km)
Today’s ride takes us to another side of Mani, combining coastal landscapes, hidden beaches and peaceful countryside roads. Along the way, we pass small stone chapels, traditional villages and endless sea views that make this region so unique.
After several hours of cycling, we reach a secluded beach where a light picnic lunch awaits in nature, a simple but unforgettable moment surrounded by the sounds of the sea and the wild Mani landscape.
The cycling part of the day ends here, but the adventure continues. A private transfer brings us east toward one of the greatest treasures of the Peloponnese: Monemvasia, the spectacular medieval fortress town built on a massive rock rising from the sea.
Before settling in, we hike to the upper town for breathtaking views and a deeper understanding of Monemvasia’s rich Byzantine history.
Check-in at our next hotel is around 17:00, where we will stay for the following three nights. The evening is yours to relax at the swimming pool, enjoy the peaceful atmosphere or take a stroll through the small town nearby.
DAY 5. Monemvasia to Gerakas Fjord (50km)
This morning we set off early toward Gerakas, one of the hidden gems of southeastern Peloponnese. Often described as a small Greek fjord, Gerakas is a peaceful natural harbor surrounded by dramatic cliffs, fishing boats and crystal-clear waters.
The ride to Gerakas combines quiet roads, rolling hills and unforgettable coastal scenery. Upon arrival, we enjoy our introduction to authentic Greek seafood in a beautiful waterfront setting. Fresh fish, local specialties and the relaxed pace of life make this lunch a true culinary experience.
There is also time for a swim in the crystal-clear waters before we begin our ride back.
In the evening, we have arranged a special wine tasting experience inside the medieval castle of Monemvasia. Discover local wines from the region, including the historic Malvasia wine that made Monemvasia famous throughout Europe during Byzantine times.
A magical evening of flavors, history and atmosphere awaits.
DAY 6. Monemvasia to Elafonisos (48km,+592m)
Our final cycling day is a true highlight and the perfect ending to the adventure. Today’s ride takes us along peaceful coastal roads with very little traffic, surrounded by endless sea views and untouched landscapes.
After reaching the small port of Pounta, we take the short ferry crossing to Elafonisos island, a tiny island famous for its turquoise waters and relaxed island atmosphere.
We spend time at the legendary Simos Beach, widely considered one of the most beautiful sandy beaches in Europe. Soft white sand, crystal-clear waters and dunes create a scenery that feels almost tropical.
Following lunch in the small harbor town of Elafonisos, a private transfer brings us back to Monemvasia for our final evening together.
Tonight, we celebrate the end of the journey with a farewell dinner filled with local flavors, wine and memories from the road.
DAY 7 Monemvasia to Mystras
Although the cycling adventure has ended, there is still one final highlight waiting for us on the journey back to Athens.
On our way north, we visit Mystras, the remarkable UNESCO World Heritage Site often described as the “Byzantine wonder of Greece.” Built on the slopes above Sparta, Mystras was once one of the most important cities of the Byzantine Empire.
Walking through its ancient stone paths, monasteries, churches and palace ruins feels like stepping into another era. Surrounded by mountains and nature, the atmosphere of Mystras is both peaceful and deeply impressive.
After the visit, we continue our transfer back to Athens, where we will drop you off at your hotel, bringing this unforgettable Peloponnese journey to an end.
